Kerala Signs ₹2,000-Crore PSU Pacts to Build Vizhinjam’s Port-Linked Logistics Ecosystem

Public-sector control aims to curb monopolies to better connect Vizhinjam to national freight networks.

Overview

  • The state executed MoUs with IOCL, CONCOR and CWC at the Legislative Assembly complex in the presence of Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan.
  • IOCL will invest ₹700 crore to set up large-scale bunkering facilities to fuel mother ships calling at Vizhinjam.
  • CONCOR will deploy ₹600 crore to create rail-linked logistics, including Inland Container Depots and Container Freight Stations for faster nationwide cargo movement.
  • CWC will fund a ₹700-crore, roughly 50-acre Multi-Modal Logistics Park with warehousing, cold storage and export-oriented units at no cost to the state exchequer.
  • VISL will steer implementation to expand a publicly anchored logistics ecosystem while the port’s terminal operations continue under the existing PPP model.
