Overview
- Police recovered 1.590 grams of MDMA concealed in a secret compartment inside a book and seized a glass bubbler, L-shaped pipes, plastic smoking pipes and other drug-use paraphernalia during a special raid.
- The accused, 25-year-old Sharfin Sebastian of Ezhumattoor, held an identity card claiming he was the state president of an organisation called Anti Drugs Movement In Nation and was produced in court and remanded to judicial custody on NDPS charges.
- Officers said they had kept Sharfin under surveillance after confidential intelligence and that he tried to misdirect the search before the hidden drugs were found.
- Investigators are tracing where the MDMA came from, checking for accomplices and re-examining his prior narcotics cases at Palarivattom and Ernakulam Town police stations and two criminal cases at Koipuram police station.
