Overview
- Ansiba Hassan first complained to Kadavanthra police, who recorded her statement but declined to register an FIR saying there was insufficient material to start criminal proceedings.
- Magistrate Kavya Soman reviewed the police record and on June 30 found prima facie grounds for a cognizable offence and directed the Kadavanthra SHO to investigate under Section 173(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.

- Ansiba has separately asked the court to direct FIRs in another complaint against actor Lakshmipriya and two online media representatives, with the police asked to explain their inaction at a July 9 hearing.
