Kentucky State Police Launch Valentine's Trooper Teddy Sale to Support Children in Crisis

Proceeds sustain a donation-funded program that equips troopers with teddy bears to comfort children after traumatic events.

Overview

  • The sale runs Feb. 2–16 with signature bears priced at $20, with all proceeds directed to the Trooper Teddy Project.
  • Bears can be ordered online or bought at any KSP Post, with paid shipping or free local pickup for web orders.
  • The first 50 online customers receive a Trooper Teddy sticker and a KSP pencil at no additional cost.
  • Gov. Andy Beshear and KSP Commissioner Phillip Burnett Jr. praised the program for helping troopers comfort children facing severe illness, crashes, abuse or other crises.
  • Started in 1989 after a fundraiser by then–First Lady Martha Wilkinson, the program is sustained by charitable contributions and bear sales, including tax-deductible donations online.
