Kenosha Police Seek Ex-School Administrator in Second-Degree Sexual Assault Case

Police are seeking public tips following a probable-cause finding that alleges contact with a person who has a mental illness or deficiency.

Overview

  • Investigators said they have probable cause to arrest 48-year-old Curtiss W. Tolefree Jr. for second-degree sexual assault under Wisconsin law.
  • Kenosha police said they were notified of the alleged assault on Feb. 21 and that Tolefree has not been arrested.
  • Officials described him as about 6 feet tall and 245 pounds, bald with brown eyes, and asked anyone with information to call 911 or Detective Bray at 262-605-5269.
  • Tolefree was serving as a principal in Zion, Illinois, where the district has placed him on administrative leave after learning of the Kenosha case.
  • Court records show he previously faced 2019 charges alleging sexual assault of a student by school staff during earlier employment in Kenosha, and police said no additional victims have come forward in the current investigation.
