Overview
- A jury found 50-year-old Keith McKenzie guilty in February of raping and orally raping a woman in her flat in September 2022, and Ipswich Crown Court handed down the sentence on Friday.
- The judge imposed 12 years in prison with a four-year extended licence and ordered the term to run consecutively to a previous sentence McKenzie is serving for wounding with intent.
- McKenzie must sign the sexual offenders register for life and is subject to an indefinite sexual harm prevention order designed to restrict his contact and movements after release.
- The victim, a woman in her 20s who remains anonymised, read a personal statement in court describing lasting trauma, loss of trust and effects on her parenting and sleep.
- DC Victoria McNamara said police carried out a thorough investigation and hoped the sentence would help the victim move forward while the recorder labelled McKenzie a dangerous offender who posed a very high risk of harm.
