KB Kookmin to Launch JPMorgan Kinexys Dollar Payment Service

The bank plans an August rollout to speed trade remittances by using a permissioned tokenised-deposit network that links blockchain settlement with existing bank rails.

Overview

  • KB Kookmin announced Sunday, July 26, 2026 that it will roll out a Kinexys-based corporate US dollar remittance service in August 2026.
  • The initial service will route USD payments to ten countries: South Korea, the United States, Singapore, Saudi Arabia, India, Thailand, Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, and South Africa.
  • Transactions will settle on JPMorgan’s permissioned Blockchain Deposit Accounts using tokenised deposits rather than public crypto tokens, keeping settlement within an approved institutional network.
  • The service will integrate with SWIFT and existing correspondent banking processes, offer near-real-time and out-of-hours settlement, and be available through KB’s domestic branches and its Singapore office while fees and limits remain unannounced.
  • Kinexys has moved large institutional volume and KB’s launch follows South Korea’s tokenised deposit pilots and other banks’ Kinexys trials, a trend that could shorten settlement times and reshape corporate treasury and supplier-payment routines.
