Katelyn Ohashi Returns to Elite Gymnastics and Targets U.S. Classic Qualifying Score

Ohashi set a baseline for her comeback at the American Classic on June 27, posting a combined beam-and-floor total of 24.650 and tying for third on balance beam.
Her next meet is the U.S. Classic in Hartford on July 17–18, where she must post a combined 26.800 on beam and floor to qualify for the Xfinity U.S. Championships in Phoenix in August.
She plans to compete only balance beam and floor this season and has said she hopes to add uneven bars as a third event in 2027 or later.
Ohashi has reshaped her training to protect a history of shoulder and spinal injuries by limiting reps, doing regular physical therapy, focusing on strength work, and training with Cale Robinson at Pacific Reign in Seattle.
Her comeback follows a broader shift in the sport that has kept older gymnasts competitive and leaves the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics as an aspirational longer-term goal rather than her immediate focus.
