Karnataka Unveils India’s First State-Led Space Technology Centre in Bengaluru

  • The Government of Karnataka opened the CoE SpaceTech Foundation in Bengaluru under a pact between the Karnataka Innovation and Technology Society and SIA-India, an industry body for satellite communications.
  • The centre was inaugurated by state minister Priyank Kharge, who said it will help make Karnataka a leading force in India’s space economy.
  • The programme targets real-world uses of space tech across farming, climate action, disaster response, connectivity, pharma, life sciences, and national security.
  • Early partnerships include MoUs with Manipal Academy of Higher Education, Helogen Corporation in the US, ABLE, Dassault Systèmes, and Idea Baaz to support research, training, and market access for startups.
  • The foundation plans industry-aligned courses and incubation to build a local talent pool and help founders turn lab work into products and jobs.
