Overview
- Police formed dedicated Anti-Rowdy squads across all four Mysuru city sub-divisions, 18 city stations and multiple Raichur taluks, with city and district units becoming operational on June 18–19.
- Mysuru city deployed 108 personnel to station- and division-level squads led by sub‑inspectors and supervised by assistant commissioners, the Deputy Commissioner (Law and Order) and the City Crime Branch.
- Authorities said the squads will use digital fingerprints, financial checks, review of past cases, periodic summons and good-conduct bonds to monitor known rowdy-sheeters and their associates.
- The city has already used the Karnataka Control of Organised Crimes and Goonda Act to detain a 28-year-old named K. Kaushik, who faces nine criminal cases, and lodged him in Kalaburagi Central Prison.
- Police urged the public to report rowdyism, extortion or intimidation to nearest stations, control rooms or emergency helpline 112 and warned the effort will combine enforcement with counselling and reform to change behaviour over time.
