Karnataka Lokayukta Raids Minister’s Aide, Reports Rs 14.38 Crore in Assets

The operation extends an ongoing crackdown that already uncovered Rs 19.2 crore from four officials.

Overview

  • Teams searched 13 properties linked to Sardar Sarfaraz Khan across Bengaluru, Kodagu and Mysuru, including his Halasuru residence, two coffee estates and a resort near H.D. Kote.
  • Recoveries cited by officials include four residential houses and 37 acres of land valued at about Rs 8.44 crore, plus roughly Rs 2.99 crore in gold, vehicles worth Rs 1.64 crore, Rs 66,500 in cash and other investments of Rs 1.29 crore.
  • Khan is a senior co‑operative audit department director on deputation with ties to Housing Minister B. Z. Zameer Ahmed Khan, and the searches follow a disproportionate assets complaint.
  • On December 23, coordinated raids at more than 17 locations tied to four other officers produced about Rs 19.2 crore in assets, with operations spanning Bagalkote, Vijayapura, Karwar and Raichur.
  • In a separate trap, Lokayukta Police arrested ACP Krishnamurthy at his Malleswaram office over an alleged bribe demand, and investigators say seized documents and financial records are under review.
