Karnataka Invites Bids for Feasibility Study to Site Bengaluru’s Second Airport

Bids are due January 12, 2026, and the selected consultant must deliver a feasibility report within five months.

Overview

  • Three locations will be evaluated: Choodahalli and Somanahalli along Kanakapura Road, and a site near Nelamangala on the Tumakuru Road corridor.
  • A high‑level Airports Authority of India team has inspected the shortlisted sites and submitted a preliminary assessment.
  • Eligibility criteria require bidders to have executed at least ₹250 crore annually over the past five years and produced consultancy reports for at least five sector projects.
  • The study will assess technical, environmental, operational and financial viability, including connectivity, land needs, cost estimates and approvals from bodies such as the Ministry of Defence and DGCA.
  • The tender allows the two Kanakapura parcels to be assessed separately or as a combined site, and KSIIDC has kept the option to add locations to the study.
