Karachi Traffic Police Launch Eid Shopping Traffic Plan With Nightly Deployments and Targeted Bans

The plan aims to keep crowded market corridors moving through slow‑vehicle limits, commercial reroutes, and stand removals during evening hours.

Overview

  • Section officers and traffic staff are on duty from 7 pm until late each night at shopping centres and along major roads during the Eid shopping period.
  • Rickshaws and taxis are barred on key stretches including Allah Wali Chowrangi to Ittehad Signal, Fawara Chowk to GPO, Singer Chowk to Zeb‑un‑Nisa Street, Tibet Chowk to Eidgah/Jama Cloth Market, and parts of Main Rashid Minhas Road.
  • Commercial vehicles are being diverted on designated routes, including Drigh Road traffic via Millennium Bridge toward Nipa, with a Hyderi contingency sending North Karachi traffic through Five Star Chowrangi to Shahrah‑e‑Noor Jahan and Landi Kotal Chowrangi.
  • Motorists received route guidance such as MA Jinnah Road via Singer Chowk, Preedy Street, and Saddar Dawakhana; KPT Underpass toward Clifton Bridge via Bath Island; and Clifton options via Teen Talwar, Racecourse, or Chaudhry Khaliq‑uz‑Zaman Road.
  • Traffic police will remove illegal rickshaw and taxi stands near supermarkets across the city, and DIG Syed Pir Muhammad Shah has urged public cooperation to keep vehicles moving.
