Karachi Launches Pakistan’s First Drone-Assisted E-Challan System

The faceless system pairs drones with Safe City cameras to ticket parking violations without towing.

Overview

  • Initial drone operations in Saddar led to two Rs10,000 e-challans for no-parking and double-parking violations during the evening rush.
  • The Traffic Regulation and Citation System and the Safe City Authority are running joint aerial patrols over Mobile Market, Zaib-un-Nisa Street, Abdullah Haroon Road, and nearby areas.
  • Officials plan to extend coverage to Tariq Road, Rashid Minhas Road, and outside major stores, with a dedicated drone team assigned to fixed corridors.
  • Motorists receive a 50% discount for paying within 14 days, and unpaid fines will double after December 29.
  • Training is underway for robotic parking units expected on the road in about 10–12 days, while Rawalpindi uses drones to check helmets, seatbelts, and mobile phone use.
