Kansas Will Host NCAA Regional at Hoglund Ballpark as No. 15 National Seed

The No. 15 seed has prompted questions about NCAA selection while Lawrence prepares to stage postseason games.

Overview

  • Kansas completed a sweep of the Big 12 regular season and tournament to finish 42-16 and secured the No. 15 national seed and the right to host an NCAA regional.
  • The Lawrence regional field includes Arkansas, Missouri State and Northeastern, and Kansas will open the bracket Friday, May 29 at noon CT against Northeastern.
  • Tickets will be sold as all-session or single-game options with a public on-sale set for 10 a.m. CT Wednesday, May 27 and tiered prices for reserved and standing areas.
  • Hoglund Ballpark underwent left-field construction before the hosting announcement to add capacity and fan amenities, and the regional will be the upgrades' first postseason test.
  • Athletics director Travis Goff and coach Dan Fitzgerald expressed surprise at the No. 15 seed and noted RPI context that listed Kansas at No. 19 with Arkansas at No. 21 and Missouri State at No. 23 through games on May 24.
