- A resident contacted animal control and Elmendorf police at about 8:45 a.m. Wednesday after spotting the loose kangaroo.
- Elmendorf PD posted a public alert on Facebook asking for help locating the animal and gave a phone number for reporting sightings.
- Officers searched near Farm-to-Market 327 and Old Corpus Christi Road while an Elmendorf PD sergeant worked with a game warden and Texas Parks & Wildlife.
- City officials told local media that the kangaroo, nicknamed “Little Rex,” was located and reunited with its owner later Wednesday.
- Authorities say the animal’s origin remains unclear and they reminded residents not to approach or try to capture any wild or loose animals and to call Elmendorf police with sightings.
