Jury Shown Video of Bottle Strike in Trial Over Kent Beach Killing

Prosecutors allege a planned trap using a fake persona called Sienna.

Overview

  • At Woolwich Crown Court, a 16-year-old girl and two boys aged 15 and 16 deny murdering Alexander Cashford, 49, in Leysdown-on-Sea on August 10, 2025.
  • Jurors viewed footage the prosecution says the girl filmed showing a boy hitting Mr Cashford on the back of the head with a glass bottle before a chase along the promenade.
  • Prosecutors say the teenagers exchanged around 75 messages using the fictitious name Sienna after a chance meeting on August 8, arranging to meet on August 10 when Mr Cashford died about 68 minutes later.
  • Witnesses described large rocks being thrown at Mr Cashford as shouts of “paedophile” were heard, and a post-mortem found head and facial injuries plus fractured ribs that punctured a lung.
  • The prosecution says the older boy later shared the clip with others using a caption referencing a “pedo,” the defendants cannot be named because they are minors, and the trial continues.
