Jury Convicts West Bromwich Mother of Murdering Two-Month-Old Daughter

Sentencing is scheduled for March 12 after the Coventry Crown Court verdict.

Overview

  • A Coventry Crown Court jury found Zara Arsalan, 31, guilty on February 20, 2026.
  • A post-mortem reported multiple skull fractures, brain haemorrhaging, fractured ribs and a fractured collar bone consistent with impact on a hard surface and likely shaking.
  • Emergency services were called to a West Bromwich address on July 23, 2020 after Harleen was reported unresponsive, and she died in hospital the following day.
  • Arsalan was arrested and charged following a West Midlands Police homicide investigation and had pleaded not guilty.
  • Detective Chief Inspector Phil Poole described the case as incredibly tragic and said Arsalan has not accepted responsibility despite evidence contradicting her account.
