Jury Convicts Four Palestine Action Activists in Elbit Factory Raid Retrial

The retrial resolved charges left undecided in the first case.

Overview

  • A Woolwich Crown Court jury returned guilty verdicts on criminal damage for Leona Kamio, Samuel Corner, Fatema Rajwani and Charlotte Head after more than 14 hours of deliberation, while acquitting Zoe Rogers and Jordan Devlin.
  • Jurors also found Corner guilty of inflicting serious harm for striking Sgt Kate Evans with a sledgehammer, and cleared him of causing grievous bodily harm with intent.
  • Prosecutors said the August 6, 2024 raid used a prison van to smash factory shutters before activists in red boilersuits damaged computers, drones and other equipment with sledgehammers and crowbars.
  • The court heard the damage at Elbit Systems’ Bristol site was about £1 million, and body-worn camera footage captured an activist acknowledging they were “doing” criminal damage.
  • The four convicted defendants were remanded to prison ahead of sentencing, and Sgt Evans took three months off work and remains on restricted duties due to a fractured spine.
