Jury Convicts Amazon Contractor in $9.4 Million Vendor-Invoice Fraud

Prosecutors say the scheme relied on an operations manager's approval authority to funnel company payments to accounts the couple controlled.

Overview

  • Brittany Hudson, 40, was found guilty on 30 counts, including wire fraud, money laundering, conspiracy, and forging a federal judge’s signature.
  • The fraud ran from January to June 2022 and used fake vendors and invoices inserted into Amazon’s system via Smyrna warehouse access.
  • About $9.4 million was transferred and spent on a Smyrna home and luxury vehicles such as a Lamborghini Urus, Tesla Model X, and Porsche Panamera.
  • While on bond in January 2023, the pair sent fake dismissal orders and forged financial statements to a potential business partner, including the signature of former Chief U.S. District Judge Timothy C. Batten Sr.
  • Hudson is set for sentencing on June 16, 2026; partner Kayricka Wortham previously received 16 years and $9.4 million restitution and faces a March 25 sentencing on a separate forgery plea.
