Judge Sets $1.25 Million Bond for Livestreamer in Tennessee Courthouse Shooting

The judge cited the crowded courthouse setting to justify the high bond.

Overview

  • Outside the Montgomery County Courthouse in Clarksville on Wednesday, livestreamer Dalton Eatherly allegedly shot Joshua Fox, who was flown to Vanderbilt University Medical Center for emergency surgery as Eatherly was also treated for a gunshot wound.
  • At a Friday arraignment, Judge Reid Poland III set Eatherly’s bond at $1.25 million, pointing to bystander risk and the seriousness of the felonies now charged as attempted murder, employing a firearm during a dangerous felony, aggravated assault, and reckless endangerment with a deadly weapon.
  • An arrest warrant says Eatherly turned in a “bladed stance” and reached for a gun before a physical fight, while Eatherly later livestreamed a claim that he fired in self-defense after being punched.
  • A preliminary hearing is scheduled for May 26, and attorney Jake Fendley has been appointed to represent Eatherly after the public defender withdrew.
  • Days before the shooting, Nashville police arrested Eatherly after a restaurant dispute over livestreaming and an unpaid $371 bill, leading to charges of theft of services, disorderly conduct, and resisting arrest.
