Overview
- The attack that led to Monserrat Bendimes’s death occurred on April 17, 2021 in Boca del Río, where prosecutors say Marlon Botas beat his then-partner and she died days later from severe head and neck injuries.
- Botas fled after the assault and was found and detained in Mérida in June 2022, starting the criminal process that lasted more than five years and ended in a guilty verdict earlier this month.
