Judge Reserves Ruling on Injunction in Manning Funfair Family Dispute

The High Court is weighing an extension of a December order limiting Joseph Manning Sr’s contact with the companies’ winter events.

Overview

  • The brothers who run Mannings Organisation Ltd and Mannings Amusements Ltd asked the court to keep in place restrictions barring their father from intimidating staff, setting up stalls, or entering Winterland and Winter Wonderland except as a ticketed visitor.
  • The application follows allegations set out in court that Joseph Manning Sr assaulted both sons in July 2024, with claims of a broken nose for Clayton and a split brow for Joseph Jr.
  • Further allegations presented to the judge include threats to destroy equipment bound for Hyde Park’s Winter Wonderland, trespass at the Bluewater Winterland site on October 16, 2025, and an anonymous letter to Royal Parks urging against awarding a contract.
  • Through his counsel, Joseph Sr denied violence and harassment, said his sons were the aggressors in the 2024 confrontation, and stated he attended the 2025 event on Showmen’s Guild advice to protect his rights.
  • The wider case includes the brothers’ proprietary estoppel claim over alleged broken inheritance promises tied to the £10m showman business, as well as disputes over shareholdings and the father’s removal as director in September 2024.
