Overview
- JSW Motors and Tata Elxsi signed an MoU Friday to create the JNEXT engineering center in Pune to develop connected, software-defined platforms for electric, hybrid, and plug-in hybrid cars.
- Tata Elxsi will run the connected vehicle platform and a single customer app end to end from concept through aftersales using its TETHER Auto cloud software.
- The scope covers over-the-air update systems, digital twins for virtual testing, cybersecurity, AI and machine learning analytics, 5G connectivity, AR and VR tools, driver-assistance features, diagnostics, predictive maintenance, and safety testing.
- Software-defined vehicles rely on code and data to add or improve features over time, which can let drivers get updates, fixes, and new services without visiting a workshop.
- The center will work with JSW’s R&D and its planned EV factory in Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar to support localization, and reports rely on company statements with the project still at the MoU stage.
