Overview
- Warner Music announced the box set on Thursday, June 25, 2026, and opened preorders with a preview release of a live “Transmission” from Les Bains Douches in Paris.
- Eternal (Live) compiles 14 audio CDs and two DVDs drawn from 16 concerts, with material newly mastered at Abbey Road Studios and sourced from audience cassettes, soundboards and broadcast tapes.
- The collection includes two previously unreleased shows (Hope & Anchor and Acklam Hall), three previously unheard recordings from Factory and London venues, and Joy Division’s final concert from May 2, 1980, at High Hall where they played “Ceremony” live once.
- The two DVDs offer more than two and a half hours of restored film, including previously unseen Plan K footage and a new edit of Malcolm Whitehead’s Joy Division film, plus expanded Apollo Theatre material.
- High-end packaging features new and archival photography, essays and a booklet by cultural figures, and the release is timed to the band’s 50th anniversary programming and Rock & Roll Hall of Fame induction, a move likely to renew interest among collectors and scholars.
