Overview
- Stolz is entered in both the World Sprint Championships on Thursday–Friday and the World Allround Championships on Saturday–Sunday at Thialf, totaling eight races from 500m to 10,000m.
- Since the ISU began staging sprint and allround worlds in the same week in 2020, no skater has completed both; in 2024 Miho Takagi started both, won sprints, then withdrew from allrounds.
- Fresh off Milan, Stolz won gold with Olympic records in the 500m and 1,000m and added silver in the 1,500m, making him the only U.S. athlete with three medals at the 2026 Winter Games and the first U.S. man since 1980 with two individual Winter Olympic golds.
- China’s Ning Zhongyan took the 1,500m Olympic title in record time over Stolz, who also finished fourth in the mass start to close his Olympic program.
- Stolz is the 2024 world allround champion, and among men only Eric Heiden and Shani Davis have won both sprint and allround world titles over a career.
