Jordan Herring Jailed for Pushing Teen Partner From Fourth-Floor Window

The judge said he poses a very high risk to the public.

Overview

  • Herring, 22, was sentenced Monday at Birmingham Crown Court to five years in custody plus a one-year extended licence after convictions for unlawful wounding and earlier coercive control.
  • He was cleared of attempted murder and GBH with intent, and the judge called him a dangerous offender citing minimal remorse, drug use in custody, and a very high risk of serious harm.
  • West Midlands Police released tower-block CCTV with the victim’s consent that shows her 40-foot fall from Merton House on November 12, 2022, which caused collapsed lungs, spine and pelvis fractures, and internal injuries.
  • Prosecutors said the push followed a cannabis-fueled jealous row, and evidence showed he delayed calling help for about 80 minutes, threatened his mother with a knife to stop a 999 call, and then told police she jumped.
  • The term includes 12 months for coercive control and four years for unlawful wounding, with half of the first and two-thirds of the second to be served before release on the extended licence.
