Jongjin Park Wins 2026 Loewe Foundation Craft Prize in Singapore

The jury highlighted experimental craft that stretches what materials can do.

Overview

  • South Korean ceramicist Jongjin Park was named the winner Tuesday in Singapore for Strata of Illusion and received €50,000.
  • His piece layers thousands of paper sheets coated in porcelain slip that burn away in firing, leaving a slumped porcelain form that tests control against collapse.
  • Two special mentions worth €5,000 each went to Baba Tree Master Weavers × Álvaro Catalán de Ocón for the communal Frafra Tapestry and to Graziano Visintin for Collier, two gold necklaces decorated with niello.
  • The panel featured leading designers and museum figures and, for the first time, Loewe creative directors Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez.
  • The 30 shortlisted works, chosen from more than 5,100 entries from 133 countries, are on view at the National Gallery Singapore from May 13 to June 14 and accessible online via the Loewe Foundation.
