Joliet Driver Charged With Aggravated DUI After Dirt Bike Rider Killed

Police say the charges come from an intersection crash linked to an alleged post-crash assault and reported alcohol impairment.

Overview

  • A Chevrolet Impala driven by 38-year-old Maxie Robinson struck a 17-year-old dirt bike rider at West Jefferson and North Hickory, which occurred Monday night and left the teen ejected and pronounced dead at the scene.
  • Robinson was arrested after officers reported signs of impairment, an admission that he had been drinking, field sobriety tests, and open alcohol containers found in his vehicle.
  • He faces aggravated DUI, two counts of DUI including a BAC 0.08+ count, and two counts of aggravated battery for allegedly exiting his car and attacking another rider after the crash.
  • Two other adult dirt bike riders who were with the teen stopped before the intersection were cited for operating non-highway vehicles on a roadway and had their bikes towed.
  • The Will County Coroner confirmed the teen died at the scene and investigators are processing the scene and seeking witness video; some outlets named the victim as Devin C. Davis while others noted the coroner had not formally released the identity.
