JLR Reopens EMA to Hybrids and Pivots to US Luxury Buyers

JLR says adding full hybrids to its EMA platform will broaden customer choice to accelerate revenue recovery.

Overview

  • On Wednesday JLR told investors it is targeting medium-term double-digit revenue growth by making North America its priority growth region.
  • The company has added full-hybrid (HEV) capability to its Electrified Modular Architecture so EMA-based models can be offered as either hybrids or battery-electric vehicles.
  • JLR confirmed Range Rover Electric and Range Rover Sport Electric will launch later this year and said Jaguar will remain an EV-only marque with the Type 01 due this year.
  • The firm unveiled a two-year cost programme to save about £1.7 billion by cutting material, warranty and fixed costs and to move breakeven volumes toward roughly 300,000 vehicles.
  • JLR signed a non-binding memorandum of understanding with Stellantis to explore US-specific Defender products, a move that could lead to localised development or production and reshape supply chains and jobs.
