Overview
- Sopore Police, which moved Friday to attach land tied to Ghulam Mohammad Bhat alias Hyder, said the proclaimed offender operates from Pakistan and is linked to Hizbul Mujahideen under a case registered at Panzalla.
- In the first 30 days of the campaign, J&K Police reported 806 arrests in 724 NDPS cases, seizures of 667 kg of narcotics and about 90,000 psychotropic tablets, and 97 properties attached valued at ₹41.85 crore.
- Police said 41 properties worth nearly ₹15 crore identified as drug proceeds were demolished after legal process, and illicit poppy and cannabis grown over 117 kanals were destroyed.
- District actions this week included demolitions of alleged peddlers’ structures in Kulgam and Anantnag, property attachments in Srinagar under Section 68-F of the NDPS Act, and fresh asset seizures reported in Budgam and Udhampur.
- Accountability efforts also reached the ranks as Udhampur Police arrested a serving Special Grade Constable after recovering 5.14 grams of heroin and registered an NDPS case while the DGP highlighted preventive detentions and licence and passport actions tied to drug probes.
