J&K Anti-Corruption Bureau Arrests Four Officials in Coordinated Bribery Traps
Citizen complaints triggered stings that recovered marked cash.
Overview
- Trap operations in Udhampur and Rajouri caught two PWD R&B Udhampur employees taking Rs 12,000 for a contractor card, an ASI taking Rs 5,000 to settle a dispute, and a Patwari taking Rs 10,000 for revenue entries.
- Those arrested are Junior Assistant Anil Jamwal and computer operator Jeet Kumar of PWD Udhampur, Patwari Mohd Razaq of Halqa Sokar/Prori in Koteranka, and ASI Zamurat Manhas of Police Station Mendhar.
- FIR No. 02/2026 was filed at PS ACB Udhampur under Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act and Section 61(2) of the BNS, while FIR Nos. 01/2026 and 02/2026 were registered at PS ACB Rajouri.
- A Dy. SP–led team recovered the tainted notes in the presence of independent witnesses and searched residences in Ram Nagar, Laddan Power House, Mendhar, Surankote and Jammu, with a Magistrate present during Udhampur searches.
- One complainant alleged the ASI threatened to book him under the Public Safety Act to force payment, and the Bureau said further action will follow based on evidence collected.
