J&K ACB Files Disproportionate-Assets Case, Raids Properties Linked to Deputy CM’s Brother

The bureau escalated the probe with an FIR after searches seized records across residences plus mining-linked businesses.

Overview

  • FIR No. 02/2026 was registered under Sections 13(1)(b) read with 13(2) of the Prevention of Corruption Act against Inspector Vijay Singh Choudhary after a verification into alleged disproportionate assets.
  • ACB teams executed court-sanctioned searches at about 10 locations, including homes in Santokh Vihar and Nonial, a stone crusher and a tile factory at Tutte di Khui in Bajalta, and other premises in Jammu.
  • Officials said the verification indicated more than 10 properties and around 100 kanals of land worth crores, largely in the names of family members and associates, with incriminating documents seized for scrutiny.
  • The operation coincided with joint surprise checks on alleged illegal mining across Jammu division, with searches at stone crushers, district mineral office Rajouri, and blocks in Rajouri and Reasi, where violations were flagged.
  • Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Kumar Choudhary denounced the action as revenge-driven and linked to internal police rivalry, while stating his family will pursue legal remedies and accepting that wrongdoing should be punished if proven.
