Jill Scott Begins Five-Day, 388-Mile Sport Relief ‘Coming Home’ Challenge

Linking major stadiums to grassroots hubs, the route aims to spotlight youth and community projects through a live tracker.

Overview

  • Scott set off from Wembley on Monday for a five-day, 388-mile cycling and running route that finishes at Sunderland’s Stadium of Light on Friday, June 12.
  • The planned itinerary lists daily legs of 112 miles to Villa Park, 99 miles to Everton, a 38-mile run into Manchester, a 111-mile cycle to the North East and a final 28-mile run into Sunderland.
  • Reporters said day one drew strong crowds and posters and that Scott felt saddle discomfort about 75 miles into the first ride while she continued to press on.
  • The challenge raises money for Sport Relief/Comic Relief projects that support young people, tackle loneliness and fund community spaces, and supporters can follow a live tracker and donate at comicrelief.com/jillscott.
  • Organisers estimate Scott will reach Sunderland between 4:30pm and 5:00pm on Friday and her final running leg will pass through County Durham towns including West Auckland, Bishop Auckland, Spennymoor, Croxdale, Durham and Houghton-le-Spring.
