Jharkhand Flags Off 1,485 Police Vehicles, Lays Foundation for 12 Integrated Stations

The move launches a phased modernisation drive to improve mobility, streamlining citizen access through integrated facilities.

Overview

  • The fleet comprises 636 Mahindra Bolero BS-6 patrol vehicles and 849 two-wheelers, flagged off from the Assembly premises in Ranchi.
  • Police headquarters said 614 Boleros have already been dispatched to districts, with the rest set for Quick Response Teams and other specialised units.
  • Foundation stones were laid virtually for 12 integrated, high-technology police station complexes across Hazaribagh, Bokaro, Deoghar, Dhanbad, Garhwa, Giridih, Palamu, East Singhbhum, Gumla, Ranchi, Dumka and Chatra.
  • Officials described the rollout as the first phase under sanctioned procurements totaling 1,255 patrol vehicles plus 1,697 two-wheelers.
  • The initiative aims to strengthen surveillance, improve patrol coverage and cut citizen visits by housing women, cyber and SC/ST units under one roof.
