Jetstar Launches BidCash Upgrades as First Refitted 787 Nears Service

The move targets rising demand for premium seats on longer international routes.

Overview

  • Eligible economy passengers can now bid for Business seats on most 787 international flights via BidCash, with minimum offers on MelbourneHo Chi Minh reported from AU$180.
  • Jetstar says the first of 11 Boeing 787s with the new interior is completing work in Hong Kong and is expected to enter service in the coming weeks.
  • The refresh more than doubles the Business cabin to 44 seats and adds in‑flight Wi‑Fi, 38‑inch pitch reclining seats, adjustable headrests, device holders and high‑power dual USB‑C charging.
  • The retrofit will roll out across the 787 fleet over the next two years, with added crew rest areas intended to enable longer sectors, including a Colombo service cited to start in August.
  • Jetstar plans to expand BidCash to Qantas Frequent Flyers so upgrades can be bid using points, with options flagged for both Classic‑style upgrades and Points Plus Pay.
