Jeffrey Lurie Wins Stuart Scott ENSPIRE Award for Autism Philanthropy

The honor recognizes Lurie’s use of the Eagles’ platform to expand autism research, clinical care, family support, national visibility

Overview

  • Lurie received ESPN’s Stuart Scott ENSPIRE Award Tuesday at the Sports Humanitarian Awards in New York, with Jason and Kylie Kelce presenting and other sports figures in attendance.
  • The award cited Lurie’s leadership of the Eagles Autism Foundation and the Lurie Autism Institute, the latter created after a $50 million Lurie family gift to CHOP and Penn Medicine.
  • The Eagles Autism Foundation has raised more than $56 million and helped fund over 223 research projects and community grants, while the combined initiatives have contributed more than $100 million to autism research and care.
  • The most recent Eagles Autism Challenge drew about 6,500 participants and raised roughly $16 million, with funds directed to science-backed studies, services for people on the spectrum, and family support programs.
  • Lurie, who has a family connection to autism, said he is humbled by the honor and expects the recognition to boost national awareness, fundraising and partnerships that could expand research and clinical services beyond Philadelphia.
