JD.com Launches Joybuy Across Europe, Pilots Same‑Day Delivery in Germany

The rollout targets Amazon by using controlled logistics to offer same‑day service in select North Rhine‑Westphalia cities.

Overview

  • Joybuy goes live in Germany, the UK, France, the Netherlands, Belgium and Luxembourg with a curated marketplace spanning electronics, household goods, beauty, home and food, including branded shops such as L’Oréal, Logitech, Braun, De’Longhi, Brita, Bodum and PlayStation.
  • The ‘Double 11’ option promises delivery the same day for orders placed by 11:00 in NRW cities including Bochum, Dortmund, Duisburg, Düsseldorf, Essen and Cologne, free above €29, with next‑day or standard shipping elsewhere and DHL support outside JoyExpress zones.
  • JD.com is building its own network with the JoyExpress fleet of about 100 vans, a major warehouse in Oberhausen of roughly 90,000 m² and additional European capacity exceeding 60 sites totaling around 300,000 m², with further German expansion planned.
  • JoyPlus membership launches at €3.99 per month (€2.99 for students) offering free shipping without a minimum order value, exclusive deals and a 30‑day trial for new customers.
  • The European push is tied to JD.com’s takeover of Ceconomy, parent of MediaMarkt and Saturn, which still awaits some formal approvals as Joybuy seeks to differentiate from ultra‑low‑cost China platforms by emphasizing brands and its own logistics.
