JBL Debuts BandBox Solo and Trio, AI-Powered Practice Amps With On-Device Stem Separation

On-device stem separation enables real-time practice without internet dependence.

Overview

  • Pre-orders are live for BandBox Solo at $249.95 and BandBox Trio at $599.95, with shipping slated to begin March 1, 2026 via JBL.com and select retailers.
  • JBL’s Stem AI runs on the hardware to isolate or remove vocals, guitar, or drums from Bluetooth-streamed tracks in real time, avoiding cloud processing.
  • Solo targets individual players with a single instrument/mic input, while Trio adds four inputs, a built-in four-channel mixer, an LCD, and more onboard controls.
  • The JBL One app provides amp models, effects like phaser, chorus and reverb, a tuner and pitch shifter, plus USB-C output enables direct recording to a DAW.
  • Battery life is rated up to about six hours for Solo and up to 10 hours for Trio, which also uses a replaceable pack, and the built-in looper is scheduled to arrive via a software update in October.
