Jammu Forces Intensify Anti-Infiltration Sweeps After Reported Udhampur House Visit

Intelligence on infiltration during dense fog prompted coordinated searches from the International Border to the LoC.

Overview

  • Police and paramilitary units launched a fresh search in Udhampur’s Chore Motu area after two unidentified men reportedly took food from a home and fled into nearby forests.
  • Area-domination operations are underway across Kathua, Samba, Jammu, Rajouri and Kishtwar, with sweeps spanning border belts such as Pansar, Paharpur, Tappan, Babar Nallah and Pragwal.
  • The effort brings together J&K Police and its SOG with the Army’s Rashtriya Rifles, CRPF and BSF in coordinated cordon-and-search and forest-combing missions.
  • Officials reported the recovery of four grenades during recent searches, while no contact with suspects has been confirmed in several sectors including Rajouri and Kishtwar.
  • A Dec. 16 encounter in Soan village, Majalta, left policeman Amjad Ali Khan dead as JeM presence was suspected, and the BSF has previously warned that roughly 72 launch pads across the border are active.
