Overview
- Police arrested Tariq Ahmed Ginoo and Mohammad Iqbal in the Tander area of Dachan on Friday as part of a Kishtwar probe into facilitators for local militants.
- Officers recovered 16 live AK-47 cartridges and multiple under‑barrel grenade launcher (UBGL) grenades from a hideout in Kanzalgoth following interrogations of the detainees.
- With these two arrests the total in the Kishtwar case has risen to four after earlier detentions of Muneer Ahmed and Mashkoor Ahmed and the probe remains open.
- A separate Shopian operation the same day detained three people and yielded two grenades, about 2.5 kg of explosive material, Hizbul Mujahideen posters and four phones for forensic and technical examination.
- Authorities are investigating under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, the UAPA and the Arms Act, and say the moves form part of a wider push to track three Hizbul Mujahideen commanders who carry ₹10 lakh rewards; one arrested man is reported to be the father of a listed commander.
