Overview
- A car and a van collided on the N3 at Drummallaght shortly before 2pm on Monday, leaving the male driver of the car fatally injured and pronounced dead at the scene.
- The man has been identified as James McHugh, a member of Donegal’s 1992 All-Ireland winning team, and his body was taken to Cavan General Hospital.
- A female passenger in the car, reported in media as McHugh’s wife Noreen, was seriously injured and airlifted to Beaumont Hospital for treatment; the van driver was taken to Cavan General with minor injuries.
