Jamal Musiala Fined and Disqualified From Driving After 2025 High-Speed Crash

A final penalty order enforces a nine-month licence reapplication ban as Musiala rebuilds fitness after a serious Club World Cup injury.

Overview

  • Munich Local Court issued a final penalty order on 28 January 2026 that fined Musiala and led to a driving disqualification that took effect in mid-February 2026.
  • Prosecutors say Musiala caused the April 13, 2025 collision on the A8 by overtaking at about 194 km/h in a 120 km/h zone and striking a VW Golf that suffered roughly €200,000 in damage.
  • The occupants of the other vehicle suffered only minor injuries and Musiala has publicly accepted responsibility, said he was grateful no one was seriously hurt, and confirmed Bayern Munich and the national association were informed.
  • Separately, Musiala broke his fibula and damaged ankle ligaments at the Club World Cup later in 2025, returned to play in mid-January 2026, and then had an ankle pain setback in March that has slowed his return to top form.
  • Bayern coach Vincent Kompany has expressed confidence in Musiala’s physical recovery and the player remains in club rehabilitation, with the driving ban lasting until he can reapply for a licence around late October 2026.
