Jaecoo Adds Petrol J5 Variants in Australia From $25,990 Drive-Away
The move targets buyers not ready for an EV with sharp drive-away pricing.
Overview
- Jaecoo, which confirmed Australian pricing Monday, opened orders for the petrol J5 now with first showroom arrivals scheduled for June.
- The Track and Summit grades use a 1.5-litre turbo petrol engine rated at 108kW and 210Nm with a CVT and front-wheel drive, and Jaecoo claims 7.5L/100km on the WLTP cycle.
- Standard kit includes a 13.2-inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, an 8.8-inch digital cluster, a 360-degree camera and a full active safety suite.
- The Summit trim adds a panoramic glass roof, a power tailgate, dual-zone climate control and power front seats with heating and ventilation.
- Both petrol models carry an eight-year unlimited-kilometre warranty, eight years of roadside assist and eight years of capped-price servicing, which totals $3326 over 12-month or 15,000km intervals, and they undercut the J5 EV Summit at $36,990 drive-away as Jaecoo says some buyers still prefer petrol for cost and charging access.
