Overview
- Coel Tainton, 24, was found with a fatal gunshot wound at a home on Ryeland Gardens in The Meadows shortly after 5:30 a.m. on February 28 and died despite treatment by paramedics.
- Police recovered a shotgun within minutes of arriving at the scene as detectives continued forensic work and an appeal for information.
- Jack Preston, 34, of Ryeland Gardens, has been charged with murder, assault by beating of an emergency worker, and a public order offence.
- Preston appeared at Nottingham Magistrates' Court on March 4, was remanded into custody by District Judge Grace Leong, and was listed to appear at Nottingham Crown Court on March 6.
- Tainton’s family paid tribute, calling him loving and generous, and police have said the shooting is believed to be an isolated incident understood to be the city’s first fatal shooting since 2013.
