Overview
- Multiple outlets reported Friday, October 9, 2026, that Jac Schaeffer is developing a new Stargate TV series for Amazon MGM under her overall deal with the studio.
- Industry reports say a writers' room is expected to open soon and Deadline adds that a room has begun in New York, but no plot, cast, or production timetable has been released.
- Joby Harold and Tory Tunnell of Safehouse Pictures are reported to be attached as executive producers alongside Schaeffer, and Amazon and Schaeffer declined to comment.
- This marks Amazon's second public attempt to revive Stargate after a Martin Gero-led project was pulled in June following concern it would not attract a broader audience.
- The move risks further alienating some long‑time fans who organized petitions and rallies after the prior project was scrapped, while signaling Amazon's broader strategy to rework MGM franchises for streaming audiences.
