Overview
- The IVAM opened the exhibition on Wednesday, July 8, and it runs at the Centre Julio González through 18 October.
- Curators reunited the 1985 commission L'Albufera. Visió tangencial — twelve photographers' work commissioned before the park's 1986 protection — with more than 200 pieces spanning an 1845 illustrated book to paintings by Sorolla and Doré.
- Six contemporary artists (Bleda y Rosa, Paula García-Masedo, Lucía Loren, Teresa Marín, Jorge Ribalta and Jorge Yeregui) contributed new, site-specific interventions in photography, video, sculpture and installation to revisit current land-use and social dynamics.
- The show foregrounds concrete ecological pressures by tracing industrial encroachment, tourism, contamination and species overexploitation, with Jorge Ribalta’s work documenting the eel’s capture, aquaculture and international trade as an example.
- IVAM frames the project within its 'Museo Anfibio' approach that treats L'Albufera as an interspecies community and links cultural protections — including artisanal fishing and vela latina declared Bien de Interés Cultural — to ongoing conservation debates.
