Overview
- Military meteorologists forecast rain across much of the country today, with snow on the western Alps above roughly 800–900 meters and on the central Apennines above about 1300 meters.
- Showers are expected to intensify over the Ligurian east coast this evening, turning into downpours and thunderstorms.
- Widespread fog is forecast in the Po Valley, while temperatures remain generally stable and edge higher in the Centre-South.
- Marine conditions will be hazardous, with moderate winds locally strengthening and very rough seas in the Sea and Strait of Sardinia, the Ligurian Sea and the southern Ionian.
- Forecasters expect another Atlantic disturbance through Thursday with gale-force winds and heavy seas especially around Sardinia and Sicily, while some models point to a possible colder shift around Feb. 14 that could lower snow levels.
