ISRO Validates Gaganyaan Deceleration With SOLVE Motor Test and Parachute Trials

  • SOLVE is a dedicated sub‑orbital test vehicle derived from PSLV strap‑on motor heritage and modified with slow burn propellant, a straight nozzle, and secondary‑injection thrust vector control to reproduce mission conditions.
  • In planned SOLVE flights the Crew Module will be lofted to roughly 10–17 km, separate in flight, and use the multi‑parachute sequence to decelerate before splashdown, letting teams test recovery hardware without an orbital launch.
  • The component successes advance Gaganyaan’s technical readiness but do not set a new date for the first uncrewed mission, which has been pushed beyond the earlier Q1 2026 target and still requires multiple uncrewed tests before any crewed flight.
