Overview
- On Monday, June 29, an Israeli airstrike on a tent in Deir al-Balah killed three people including an eight-year-old boy, and other strikes on June 27–29 struck tents and camps in Al‑Mawasi, Khan Younis and Beit Lahiya, causing additional civilian deaths and injuries.
- The Israeli military says many recent strikes targeted named militants, for example identifying Zaher Abu Salem as a member of Islamic Jihad, while Gaza health authorities and hospitals reported the same strikes hit displaced people’s shelters.
- Rights groups and a UN‑commissioned team of independent experts have released reports alleging patterns of attacks on children, hospitals, schools and shelters that could support legal action at international courts.
- Gaza’s Health Ministry reports more than 1,040 people killed since the October 2025 ceasefire and over 73,000 deaths since October 2023, while the ICRC says it has been blocked from visiting detainees in Israeli facilities since October 2023 despite facilitating some transfers.
- Humanitarian access is constrained as Israeli forces expand control inside Gaza by moving 'yellow line' barriers, which reduces aid reach, worsens shelter conditions for displaced families, and fuels diplomatic pressure for investigations and relief.
